Daniel Surya is South East Asia Chairman and President of DM
IDHOLLAND, a Global Brand Identity network of WIR group & IDHOLLAND.
He also serves as one of Commissioners in WIR group, which is
Indonesia largest brand & future branding group that comprises of SE
Asia largest augmented reality unit, social media agency, mobile
content developer, technology based brand activation & Brand Education
unit.
Prior to his current position, Daniel served as Indonesia & Brunei
country director of The Brand Union for 3 years. He led business
operations from its set up, unit opening in Indonesia and at the same
time growing the unit to eventually becoming Indonesia raising star
agency in 2009/2010. In this capacity, Daniel was involved in branding
programs for leading Indonesia companies including Bank Mandiri,
Telkom Indonesia, Aerowisata (Garuda Indonesia Group), PLN Batam and
Sosro Consumer brands.
Previously, Daniel also served as chief representative of Landor,
based in Indonesia, and was responsible for more than 9 years Landor
operation in Indonesia from it set-up till it became one of leading
names in brand & branding business in the country.
Daniel started his branding career in 1996 when he joined Addison a
strategic design consultant as their program director. He then joined
Landor in 1998 as chief representative of the Jakarta office, helping
its set up from 1 person unit with no portfolios to the most respected
name in the country. Under his leadership, the Jakarta office managed
to win blue chips clients including Astra International, BNI,
Pertamina, BII, Danamon, Medco Energi, Indosat, Kalbe Group &
Indofood. He also served as double assignment from WPP group to help
Young & Rubicam's Jakarta office as their executive director from 2005
to 2007.
Under his leadership & together with his partners, in early 2010, DM
brands - Indonesia was re-positioned into a group offering, and has
been growing from 7 employees and a quarter million USD in business to
70 employees and multiplied more than 10 times in just within 15
months of its operation. In this role, Daniel & his DM IDHOLLAND team
work with first-tier brands including Muamalat Bank, Indomaret, Hotel
Inna, Batik Semar, Achilles radial, Rekso group, the Jakarta Post &
many others.
Daniel is an architect of branding industry in Indonesia and
recognized authority on Indonesian branding and brand communications.
He has been quoted in numerous business and professional publications
and has frequently appeared on radio and television programs. He has
served as a member and officer of various business, professional
organizations and received several recognition, including Indonesia
C-League executive by SWA in 2010, WPP AWARD 2008 & 2009 (member of
WPP HPG - High Potential Group), Nominated by Warta Eknonomi as one of
the most 40 successful young professionals in Indonesia (2001), Global
Brand Jury Primaniyarta Award 2010-2011, Jury to Spikes Asia in 2009
(Singapore), Management Committee Indonesia Brand Development
Institution - IBDI Prasetya Mulya in 2009, Advisor to IMAGO School of
